The Best Surf Games You Can Play on Your Phone

Updated October 2026

Good surf games are weirdly hard to find. Search the App Store and you get tide charts, surf forecasts, and games nobody has touched in years. So we went through the App Store and Google Play, dropped everything that has been pulled or abandoned, and kept the surf games that are still worth your time.

Here's the short list, sorted by the kind of ride you want.

Best realistic surf games

If you want to read the wave, time the drop and actually earn a barrel, start here.

True Surf

True Surf is the official game of the World Surf League, and the most complete surf sim on mobile. You unlock 34 real spots, ride boards from real shapers, and the conditions come live from Surfline, so the waves change with the actual forecast. You even switch to a first-person view when you get barreled.

The physics are realistic, so give it a few sessions before it clicks.

Best for: surfers, and anyone who wants the real thing. Price: free, with optional $2.99/month subscriptions.

YouRiding: Surf and Bodyboard

YouRiding has been around since 2007, and it's the pick if you bodyboard. You can freeride real spots like Teahupoo and Kirra, build your own waves in the wave editor, and enter online tournaments with 16-rider brackets and one-on-one heats.

It's a one-time purchase, which is rare in this genre.

Best for: bodyboarders and players who like to compete. Price: $5.99.

World Surf Tour

Built in Japan "for real surfers, by real surfers," World Surf Tour is all about contests at famous breaks: Snapper Rocks, Teahupoo, J-Bay, Trestles and Pipeline, with Rio and Peniche as add-ons. It's one of the best-rated surf games on the App Store, with a 4.6 average from more than a thousand players.

Best for: contest-style sessions. Price: free, with ads and in-app purchases.

Pocket Surf

Pocket Surf is a small indie game from a solo developer, and it takes surfing seriously. You start as a beginner, unlock surfers and boards with their own stats, and work your way up to snaps, airs, kickflips and barrel rides. The learning curve is steep on purpose.

Best for: players who like a challenge. Price: free.

Best arcade surf games

The opposite of a simulator: one thumb, short runs, instant restarts. Perfect for a bus ride or a five-minute break.

Stickman Surfer

Don't let the stick figure fool you. This is one of the most-loved surf games on the App Store, with a 4.7 average from over 6,000 ratings. You surf past piers, caves, shipwrecks and wave parks with one-touch controls, and when you need a break there's a skate halfpipe and a dune-driving mode.

Best for: quick sessions and chasing a high score. Price: free, with ads and in-app purchases.

Sushi Surf

A cute endless surfer: you carve through the sea, dodge rocks and sea monsters, and catch fish so Grandma Hinata can make sushi. Simple one-touch controls and lots of color. Reviews are mixed, but it's a fun pick for kids and casual players.

Best for: kids and casual play. Price: free, with in-app purchases.

A new arcade surf game is on the way

We're a small studio making the surf game we couldn't find: short rides, one thumb, and a wave that actually feels alive. No surf skills needed. Want to know the day it's out?

If you like surf games, try this too

Alto's Odyssey is sandboarding, not surfing, but the endless ride, the changing weather and the calm soundtrack scratch the same itch. It's also one of the best-looking games on any phone.
